Rangoli

Rangoli is an art form, originating in the Indian subcontinent, in which patterns are created on the floor or the ground using materials such as colored rice, dry flour, colored sand, or flower petals. It is usually made during Deepavali, Onam, Pongal, and other Hindu festivals.

I have made a lot of rangolis and very fine rangolis take at least 4 to 5 hours to complete. I have also participated in some competitions. Of late I have tried to experiment with different types of rangolis and some of the samples are provided above in the gallery. I am proud and happy to say that my wife Raji, helps me a great deal in this art form and I have dedicated an exclusive page for her skills in making Kolam using traditional materials like rice flour. Click here to visit her creations.
